According to North Carolina State University, the world’s population shifted from being primarily rural to being primarily urban on May 23, 2007.  A question of you American Studies and Cultural Geography people, how does this effect the outlook of politics? Will the represent a shift in liberal leaning politics? Are there other conclusions that can be drawn? Or does this simply mean that our exponential growth has caught up with itself?

Wow. I just ran across this LJWorld article about the Lied Center ticket office back when Holly and I worked there. We are both quoted in it. (Our first story the we are both quoted in. That’s one for the digital scrapbook!) The Lied Center is where we fell in love. At least that’s where we started falling in love. The actual falling in love may or may not have happened later and somewhere else. Teehee.

I love you, sweetness, and I don’t care if the whole world knows.

What magazines do you receive in the mail? I am experiencing a problem of wanting more than I can realistically read and would like to just choose once and for all without yet another one sounding interesting. Hence, the poll.

From CNN, “White House: Bin Laden wanted Iraq as a new base.” This reeks of desperation to me. The Bushies are at it again, spinning. Spinning so much I nearly want to vomit. Their newest FUD marketing story is the declassification of this information about a Bin Laden operative captured, and, presumably tortured, in the summer of 2005 revealing information about a pie-in-the-sky ambition of Bin Laden. While it might be true, I still don’t believe it. The information is of no use except for the Bush administration to justify staying at war in Iraq.

The real story is that BIN LADEN wanted to set up a base. We are not trying hard enough to find and “bring to justice” Bin Laden, the real culprit. If Bush had been smart and went after the real terrorists, we would not have inherited a war that is entrenching us in a world-wide political catastrofuck for the next 20 or so years.

Anywho, just wanted to vent a bit and call Bull Shit on the Bushies.

You’ll notice a slight tweak to the site.  Recent comments and recent posts have been added to the left sidebar. That’s so good it’s almost tasty.

Here is a very clear John Stewart interview with Brink Lindsey about swing of the socioeconomic pendulum towards that of libertarianism. My understanding of libertarianism is that an individual can do what ever they want with their lives. I buy this, but I also think there should be a safety net for all people. The safety net should include education, health care, food, shelter, fair economics, law, and peace. Oh and safety - I hear safety nets go well with promoting safety. ^_^  This or parts of it could be the philosophy of libertarianism too, I don’t know. Anyway the interview is good and hopeful.

Oh boy, was I pissed when I saw (what I didn’t know to be a new piece of art) a prayer booth in downtown Lawrence. My initial thought was this fucker’s going down. Tonight! It won’t last a day, and I’ll see to that. Then I found out it was a new sculpture in the Lawrence Outdoor Downtown Sculpture Exhibition. That made me feel better - even good that it was being displayed.  I am always open for discussion. I am never open for proselytizing. I am glad the piece is intended to be the former and not the latter. If it were the latter, hell was going to freeze over and thunder was going to roll from the working end of a six-foot tall, 60-pound crowbar. After all, hell hath no furry like an atheist scorned. Arrggg.
