From CNN, “White House: Bin Laden wanted Iraq as a new base.” This reeks of desperation to me. The Bushies are at it again, spinning. Spinning so much I nearly want to vomit. Their newest FUD marketing story is the declassification of this information about a Bin Laden operative captured, and, presumably tortured, in the summer of 2005 revealing information about a pie-in-the-sky ambition of Bin Laden. While it might be true, I still don’t believe it. The information is of no use except for the Bush administration to justify staying at war in Iraq.

The real story is that BIN LADEN wanted to set up a base. We are not trying hard enough to find and “bring to justice” Bin Laden, the real culprit. If Bush had been smart and went after the real terrorists, we would not have inherited a war that is entrenching us in a world-wide political catastrofuck for the next 20 or so years.

Anywho, just wanted to vent a bit and call Bull Shit on the Bushies.

    Dude. I are so confused.
You said, once upon a blog, “The affects of the war are irrelevant to my life.”
But you are caring (enough to “vent” in a post or two) about something that you feel is irrelevant to you?

Maybe I’m pointing to an inconsistency in all of us. I, after all, had a canned tirade against U2 for years that had no legitimate basis. I didn’t listen to their music ever, but I espoused a general distaste for their basslines at every opportunity. I was interested enough to have the conversation, but I wasn’t willing to own my investment in the subject. In another instance, I started carrying a PDAphone and T-Lo says I have to call the stylus a stylus, not a “stick”–I have to own it.
Whatever. I’m rambling. And I shouldn’t post this many comments in one night. It makes me too aggressive.

oh, snap! Sometimes I space out in Himay’s posts, cause they are over my head, but she got you on that one, bstop.

I think that those things that a person absolutely hates for either no reason or a silly one (not that the war is that, but maybe U2) are the most interesting things about a person. I can have an awfully good time spewing vitriol on whatever my subject of the moment is, and can feel that way for years without much thinking it through only to have somebody say:

Somebody: “But what about this pretty obvious point?”

Me: “Oh, good point. I guess I’ve got no case. You got me.”

For example, I once thought that it was stupid that Toyota made trucks and surely they weren’t good ones because what does Japan need trucks and four wheel drive for anyway (I really hadn’t thought this through), only to have my friend Skemme point out that Japan has mountains. Whoops.

    I suppose if

counts as my feeling that the effects of the war ARE relevant to my life, then yes she’s got me. But I don’t think so. Just because I got pissed off at our completely inadequate president, doesn’t mean that I feel the war affects my day-to-day life.

Right. Leap in logic. My bad. I never was stellar in that section of philosophy class.

Have a great Memorial Day, everyone.
