If you would like to wager on the K-Stop baby’s due date and weight, then go to the google calendar B-Stop set up, and enter the weight you predict in the date you predict. Also enter your name. So an entry might read 8 lb 2 oz Jaime. First come first serve on the dates; one person per date. Entering a weight and date is a promise that you’re betting five bucks on each of the two things. The closest weight gets half the money, the closest date gets the other half, all less 10% of the total which goes to baby’s piggy bank. Or maybe we could buy it a couple of Wheatfields stocks or something. Whatever mom and dad want.

If you need to be hooked up in the calendar or if you’d just like me to place your entry for you, just let me or Brett know.

Ready, set, GO!

Here is the calendar in all it Google glory. You’ll need to tab forward to August. Holly’s due date is August 9.

“Walking as bad as driving for global warming” was the headline on Glenn Beck’s show.  This ‘news’ was based off this article:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/science/article2195538.ece

“Driving a typical UK car for 3 miles [4.8km] adds about 0.9 kg [2lb] of CO2 to the atmosphere,” a calculation based on the UK Government’s official fuel emission figures. “If you walked instead, it would use about 180 calories. You’d need about 100g of beef to replace those calories, resulting in 3.6kg of emissions, or four times as much as driving.

“The troubling fact is that taking a lot of exercise and then eating a bit more food is not good for the global atmosphere. Eating less and driving to save energy would be better.”

Ok, sure let’s not bring transport into the equation for gasoline, but just for food.  That makes sense.  Secondly, beef, milk?  Both inefficient ways to get calories.  What about the energy use of the treadmill that wouldn’t get used that day?

Point is, this article uses terrible ’science’ - an actual, thorough comparison was not done.  And Glenn Beck just reported it that way without actually doing any journalistic research.  Brilliant.  The message was “Why do anything?  Everything causes global warming.  Don’t let those liberals fool you that we can make any difference.”  Frankly, the reporting was so irresponsible I was disgusted.

As I was taking a walk just now, I passed a house whose air smelled like fresh laundry. I love that smell. So it got me thinking about other smells that I love. Here’s my list-I’d love to read yours.

In no particular order…
1. Fresh laundry (dryer sheet smell) in the air
2. Sizzling fajitas as they come out of the kitchen ( I love this one so much, I never order fajitas because the smell alone is satisfying)
3. Cut grass (cliched, I know, but still sensational (pun intended))
4. Espresso brewing
5. I’m sure I have a fifth favorite, but will need to ponder

Holly turned me onto this video on Ted.com. Since Holly doesn’t post to the blog very often, I decided to post it for her :). It is about a neuroanatomist that had a stroke and had revelations about the brain and life. It is very moving and quite true if you ask me.

So the question is who are you deciding to be . . . right now?

The first is about a car that is able to drive itself. Pretty amazing, although it requires a big ass car to cart all of the shit around…
