As I was taking a walk just now, I passed a house whose air smelled like fresh laundry. I love that smell. So it got me thinking about other smells that I love. Here’s my list-I’d love to read yours.

In no particular order…
1. Fresh laundry (dryer sheet smell) in the air
2. Sizzling fajitas as they come out of the kitchen ( I love this one so much, I never order fajitas because the smell alone is satisfying)
3. Cut grass (cliched, I know, but still sensational (pun intended))
4. Espresso brewing
5. I’m sure I have a fifth favorite, but will need to ponder

This is right up my alley. I had a conversation with my aunt over Christmas. After watching me smell the fancy soaps from my stocking over and over she asked me if smell was my dominant sense. Apparently everybody has a dominant sense. Well, I thought about it, and smell is definitely it for me. It’s how I interpret the world and define things as good or bad - a smell will make or break a moment for me.

    1. Certain feather pillows from my grandmother’s house (usually the old ones found in the basement), and on a similar note - our bed
    2. Kittens - have you ever shoved your face in kitten fur? it’s fantastic
    3. Hyacinths
    4. Certain body products obviously meant to smell good (Body Shop mandarin body butter, Henri Bendel rose cream body wash - it smells like roses but better)
    5. Gasoline

    Fantastic post.
Hands down, far and away, mine is burning the fields.

    Fresh coffee brewing.

Crisp air, like mountain air or a brisk fall morning at sunrise.

Many foods - peaches, strawberries, bread baking, baking in general.

    Brett after one beer.

Soon it shall be the top of my baby’s head.

Brett after 8 beers is a bit ripe. No surprise that didn’t make her list :)

I don’t have a great sniffer so I don’t have many favorite smells. Here are the ones I can think of

    • Saw dust
    • Inside of old cars (1940s-60s)
    • The smell trail that people walking by me leave. Its always interesting. Oh, and that excludes crop dusting.
