Has anyone tried this on their PC yet? What are your thoughts?

I tried Chrome when it first came out. I like it but not so much so that it replaced Firefox. Firefox3 is a great browser. As a web developer, it will be pretty difficult for another browser to come along and replace Firefox. There are simply too many great tools for Firefox.

The things that I liked about Chrome are that you can create a desktop shortcut directly to a web app like gmail, it is fast (but so is FF3), they rethought tabs and the user interface, the way it handles crashes (the offending tab goes down and not the whole browser), and the Chrome Comic.

I use Chrome for my school computer. I really like it for basic web searching stuff. I have a bad habit of having a lot of things open at one time (usually about one start menus full…at least…) so it seems to handle that pretty well. The crashing webpage issue is pretty important to me. Because my gradebook is web based, it times out quite a bit and sometimes will crash, so the fact that it’s only that tab is wonderful…

Other than those two things, I haven’t seen an appreciable difference other than bells and whistles…

Here is an article detailing the speed difference between the 5 “major” browsers. IE and Opera are by far the slowest with Safari, Firefox, and Chrome being close in terms of speed.

If you are still using IE, put down the mouse, turn off the computer, and go read a book. The interwebs just isn’t for you.
